The article analyzes the current state of cotton cleaning devices. As a factor in increasing the cleaning efficiency, the geometric dimensions of the various surface holes were taken and their expansion option was proposed. Experimental test showed that the expansion of the mesh surface holes can significantly increase the cleaning efficiency. Pile drums can also clean large contaminants in pile drums in the interval up to the first saw drum section in the technological process of initial operation. It is recommended to carry out additional experiments to apply the geometric dimensions of the holes to the rest of the expanded mesh surface cleaning flow.
