The results of the developed and practically mastered new technology for producing silicon and its alloys based on the use of a gaseous carbonaceous reducing agent in the form of methane and briquetted charge are presented. The features of methane dissociation, briquetting of all types of silica - and carbon-containing finely dispersed materials and the achieved technology indicators are discussed.
