COGNITIVE ASPECT OF THE UZBEK IDIOMATIC WORDS AND THEIR EQUIVALENTS IN ENGLISH

Abstract

The progressing of the Uzbek linguistics andlearning approaches to language, especially, prob-lems of cognitive linguistics have been analyzedin the article. The results show that cognitive ap-proach and methods of cognitive language mate-rials carried out legislation of lexical units of theUzbek language, as the materials of the Uzbeklanguage indicate the reasons of conceptual con-nection of linguistic units, including the seman-tic factor of cognitive linguistic connection wereilluminated in the article. The main characteris-tics of idiomatic units were based on conceptualconnection. Some idiomatic words of the Uzbeklanguage were translated into English with theirequivalents. A variety of Uzbek language materi-als is based on the perception of reality, knowl-edge, opportunities linguistic memory of peo-ple.
The article is dedicated to the research of waysof idiomaticity in the Uzbek word formation. Itdescribes various causes of emergence of idioma-ticity in compound words. The aim of the researchwork is the study of the cognitive aspect of idiom-atic words of the Uzbek language.
The role of cognitive mechanisms in wordformation and verbalization of language units isconsidered as one of the topical problems of lin-guistics. The author of the article analyzes thecognitive bases of the formation of the idiomaticwords in the Uzbek language. Conceptual me-tonymy, conceptual metaphor and metaphtonymywere demonstrated as basic cognitive mechanismsin the formation of idiomatic words. Moreover,the article covers the problems of engenderingof idiomatic words as a result of human being’s understanding of the world, their reflection in hu-man being's cognition and the process of reflec-tion of cognitive mechanisms in the formation ofthe concept.
