This article describes the processes associated with the study of the definition and etymology of homonyms in Uzbek and English. In addition, the emergence of homonyms in different languages is explained by various factors, and in accordance with the topic, the specificity of linguistic and non-linguistic factors in the occurrence of homonymy is explained.
