International Finance and Accounting


This article studies the nature, importance and specifics of collateral and its assessment in the lending activities of commercial banks as representatives of the credit markets based on the approaches of economists. The aspects necessary for a positive assessment of collateral, the mechanisms of collateral management in commercial banks are described in detail. The stages of legal control of the borrower by commercial banks are also discussed. It also analyzes the factors that are taken into account in the formation of collateral and their statistics in the process of lending in different countries. Scientific conclusions and recommendations are given on the basis of the study of foreign experience in collateral and its assessment in the credit markets.
