The Light of Islam

Abstract

One of the main elements that have an important role in the formation of verse and give it a rhythmic melody, musicality and emotionality are rhythmic-syntactic parallelisms. In this article based on poetic extracts from “Divan Lugati-t-Turk”, parallelisms and their features, which played an important role in the formation of versification and the history of the development of the Turkic language, are analyzed. Syntactic parallelism is manifested in the genres of oral folk art as the main and powerful tool that ensures the integrity of various poetic works, and especially quatrains. If rhythmic-syntactic parallelisms form poetry, then parallelism itself is formed by using three basic means: alliteration, repetition, “saj”.

In the quatrains of “Divan lugati-t-Turk” phonetic, lexical and syntactic repetitions are used. Different passages contain two types of parallelisms: complete and incomplete. The presence of incomplete parallelisms in ancient Turkic tombstone epitaphs, as well as the content of complete syntactic parallelisms of oral folk art, using examples from “Divan lugati-t-Turk”, show that over time the creative thinking of the Turkic peoples and the laws governing their artistic works continued to evolve and achieve perfect form.
