The colors of ancient times are closely related to the socio-cultural life, rituals and ancient views of a particular nation. In particular, among Turkic peoples, colors have a peculiar meaning in artistic thinking. An example of this is the poetic excerpts from the “Divani lugati-t-turk”. The article discusses the role of color-description in the folklore of the Turkic people, its semantics and significance in public life in Turkic society. The article speaks about toponyms, ethnonyms associated with the colors-paintings used in the everyday life of the Turkic peoples, and also shows the role of colors in reflecting the quality of a person. The artistic and stylistic features of phrases in verse passages associated with colors are analyzed. The results of the analysis show that according to the color-pictures used in the poems “Divani lugati-t-turk”, color can be considered as one of the most important symbols of the relationship between man and nature, man and the universe. In the verses cited in the work are found as a symbol of well – being – white, majesty and youth – black, revitalization and renewal – green (blue), strength (power), enthusiasm – red, separation and parting – yellow. These colors were symbolized as creeds much earlier than other symbols associated with colors
