The Light of Islam


In the science of Hadith, great attention is paid to the chain of transmitters, that is, the isnad which is the component of hadiths. Indeed, according to the degree of credibility of the narrators in the Hadith, it is established whether the Hadiths are reliable or non-reliable, whether they should be accepted or rejected. The discipline, which deals with the identification of negative and positive qualities of the transmitters, such as inferiority, fairness and reliability, and which in the basis of this makes a conclusion about a particular transmitter, is called “jarh and ta’dil”. There are different views on the emergence of the science of jarh and ta’dil, and some researchers have tried to link this phenomenon with the first troubles in the history of Islam, while others argue that it arose in the middle of the second century after the Hijra. At the same time, there are differences in the question of whether this science appeared in all Islamic countries at the same time or at different times in different regions. A comparative study of the arguments advanced on the basis of these arguments, their analysis, the place and causes of the emergence of the science of jarh and ta’dil is an important tool in determining the geography of distribution of this discipline in Islamic countries. The article reveals and analyzes the content, the nature of the subject, the object of research, its subject, the stages of its development in the first two centuries, and each of which were given conclusions
