This article is devoted to the expression of the gender concept in anthroponyms. In the Uzbek language, the features inherent in the expression of the gender concept in the names of people, common and distinctive features inherent in the names of men and women are scientifically identified. In Uzbek linguistics, individual works performed on the study of the system of names of people are analyzed. In order to scientifically substantiate such important issues as the richness of the language and changes in the composition of the dictionary, the author put forward his views on the need to study the system of names in a sociolinguistic aspect, highlighted the emergence of anthroponyms, the laws of development of this system in the Uzbek language.
