Abstract
In diabetes mellitus, the oxidative stress accompanied by an increase in generation of free radicals and a reduction in the activity of antioxidant system is one of the mechanisms of cell damage. Effect of an extract from saflor flowers on the antioxidative activity and glucose blood in animals with alloxan diabetes was studied. The extract was established to demonstrate antioxidant and hypoglycemic effects upon its administration to the animals with experimental diabetes over two weeks.
