Purpose: the purpose of the study is to develop a methodology for improving the educational and training process of young handball players at the initial preparatory stage of the children's and youth sports school.

Methods: the study used such methods of scientific research as theoretical analysis and generalization of scientific and methodological literature; pedagogical observation; morphofunctional research methods; pedagogical testing; pedagogical experiment; mathematical and statistical analysis of the research results.

Results: Based on the analysis of scientific and methodological literature, a training program "Mini-handball" was developed to improve the training process of young handball players in the initial stage of preparation.

Conclusion: An analysis of the theoretical and methodological aspects of the training activity of young handball players at the initial stage of training shows that the development of modern handball is currently characterized by significant changes in the structure and content of the training process in this sport.
