Abstract
The aim of the research is to determine the effect of alumina on the phase composition of shale of the Jerdanak deposit and the quartz-pyrophyllite rock of the Baynaksay deposit during high-temperature firing. X-ray phase analysis determined changes in the phase composition of rocks with additives from 5 to 20% aluminum oxide as a result of firing at 1300 and 1400 °C. A comparative analysis revealed the absence of cristobalite formation, a decrease in the quartz content, and an increase in the amount of mullite for shale samples. No positive effect of alumina additives on the phase composition of quartz-pyrophyllite rock was found.
